MAIA’S Laurence Boyle Included in Citywire Wealth Manager’s Top 100

We are very excited to announce that MAIA’s Chief Investment Officer, Laurance Boyle, has been included in Citywire Wealth Manager’s Top 100 2022, the annual showcase of the UK’s most influential fund selectors.

Now in its 11th year, Citywire Top 100 2022 has once again conducted an in-depth, quantitative, nationwide search not just for those who control the most assets, but also those who are reshaping the industry.

This year there were many new entrants alongside household names and familiar faces who continue to influence the industry and offer insightful market commentary, and we were delighted that Laurence was selected. Each entry comes from a firm that runs at least £500m in assets under management.

Laurence Boyle co-founded Maia Asset Management, which has a Group AUM of £624m, as its Chief Investment Officer in 2016, coming from Investec via Williams de Broë.

He chairs Maia’s asset allocation and strategy committees and says that he is very proud that the company, which he co-founded with Investec colleague and Investment Director, Rebecca Williams, has a 50:50 gender split on both the board and overall team. He also points out that half the board are under 40 years old!

Laurence says that his best decision of last year was overweighting alternatives, specifically global infrastructure, commenting: “Our infrastructure holdings have provided diversification benefits along with good performance and healthy income generation. We have also continued to add to value biased funds to increase our overweight allocation to value over growth.”

Citywire Selector has been publishing details of all 100 entrants selected over the coming weeks, with Laurence included in the first 25 to be profiled.

Everyone at Maia is hugely proud of Laurence’s achievement and is delighted that his efforts and capability have been nationally recognised. The Citywire Wealth Manager Top 100 is fiercely contested, with many fund selectors hoping for selection, and it is a great accolade to have been chosen.

See Laurence’s profile on Citywire here.

Update on Our UK Gilt Positioning

As we have spoken about before, we introduced long duration UK gilts to our portfolios at the end of 2023. Following a period of higher inflation and higher interest rates, and with the headline yield on bonds far higher than what had been the case for many years, our team made several adjustments to our fixed income allocation.
